Problem Solving.

In any organization there will be times when disagreements arise. It is the belief of the Thompson Education Association that most disagreements can be resolved through clear communications in a problem solving process. Concerns are best handled at the level nearest the problem or issue. To facilitate communication, informal and formal methods of conflict resolution have been adopted.

Facilitation.

The Thompson Education Association has a team of teachers who have accepted the responsibility of facilitating member rights procedures found in the MOU. As issues arise, this group researches precedents, contacts administration, and supports members through the process. If they are unable to satisfy the TEA member, the experienced UniServ leaders get involved. This starts with the Uniserv directors, and may involve the CEA legal office as well. The intent of a grievance is the resolution of conflict and establishment of practices and policies to prevent similar conflicts in the future.
